Ryan had a hand in the wardrobe for The Place Beyond the Pines. The Metallica shirt was pricey vintage and getting rights to use  it was a task in itself. Most of the wardrobe was ordered online and from a private vintage shop not generally open to the public. The focus was on making him so 80's that he'd look out of place today.
